1. ivendjar777,
Hello. My name is Ivaylo Tsankov. I would like to propose a very interesting variant of the domino game, which I hope many people will like. Here are the rules.
Rules of "Domino Sum 7"
1. Basic Rules
- Played with a standard set of dominoes
- At the beginning, each player draws the standard number of tiles
- The remaining tiles form the market
- The player with the highest numbers starts first
- The goal is to form a sum of 7 with the number you place your tile next to
2. How to Play
- If there's a 2 at the end, you must place a tile with 5 (2+5=7)
- If there's a 3 at the end, you must place a tile with 4 (3+4=7)
- And so on - the sum must always be 7
- If you don't have a suitable tile, you draw from the market until you get one
3. Special Rule for Zeros (Traps)
- After the sixth turn, you can use a zero as a trap
- When you place a zero on one side, that side is closed (blocked)
- When both sides are closed with zeros, the game ends
4. Important Rules for Required Numbers
- There are always two required numbers - one on each side
- When you place a tile that satisfies one of the required numbers:
- On that side, a new number will be required (which makes 7 with the other number on your tile)
- On the other side, the original unfulfilled number continues to be required
- Thus, two required numbers are always maintained in the game
5. End of Game
- The game ends when:
- Both sides are closed with zeros
- Or the exact required number is placed on the last open side
- Or a player runs out of tiles
- Points from remaining tiles are counted for each player
- The player with the least points wins
6. Example Game Situations:
1. Let's say both ends require 5 and 3:
a) If you place a 5-2 tile:
- On the side of the 5 (which matches the required 5), a 5 will be required (to make 7 with the 2)
- On the other side, the original 3 is still required
- So now 5 and 3 are required
b) If you place a 3-1 tile:
- On the side of the 3 (which matches the required 3), a 6 will be required (to make 7 with the 1)
- On the other side, the original 5 is still required
- So now 6 and 5 are required
2. Examples of game endings:
a) If 4 and 6 are required, and you place a 6-0 tile (after the sixth turn):
- The 6 matches the required 6
- The zero closes that side
- Only 4 remains required on the other side
b) If only 4 is required (the other side is closed), the game can end in two ways:
- Option 1: You place a 4-1 tile
* The 4 matches the required 4 on the last open side
* The game ends immediately and points are counted
- Option 2: You place a 0-0 or another tile with zero
* The zero closes the last open side
* The game ends and points are counted
7. Tactical Advice:
- Don't rush to place a required number or close a side with zero if:
- You have many points in your remaining tiles
- You see that opponents have few tiles
- You have good combinations for future moves
- You can hold onto a required number when opponents have few tiles, forcing them to draw from the market and increase their number of tiles
- Strategic waiting is allowed by the rules and is often key to victory
- Consider carefully when to use a zero as a trap - this can be decisive for the final result
