1. facelessghost,

Hello everyone!
I am very glad that the game Hearts is available in the game room.
I have a suggestion that might possibly diversify it.
It will also allow more people to play the game.
I like to be honest, and that's why I'm telling you right away that I took these ideas from another version of the game that was played on a different gaming platform.
You might find it interesting.
Here are the additions I propose to implement in the game Hearts:
1.
Hearts with Cancellation
The game follows the usual rules of Hearts with some changes:
• Two decks of 52 cards each are used.
• The game involves seven to ten players.
• An even number of cards are dealt around the circle. The remaining cards are placed face down.
• No card exchange is made before the play.
• The player to the left of the dealer goes first.
• The Queen of Spades is allowed to be added to the first trick.
• If two completely identical cards appear in the same trick, they cancel each other out.
• If all the cards in a trick turn out to be of the same rank, that trick goes to the winner of the next trick.

  1. Hearts - Domino
  2. The game follows the usual rules of Hearts with some changes:
    • Three to seven players can participate.
    • Each player is dealt 6 cards.
    • The remaining cards are placed in a face-down pile in the center of the table. These are the reserve cards.
    • The player to the left of the dealer goes first.
    • A player who cannot follow suit must take the top cards from the reserve until they draw the needed card and make a play.
    • If the reserve is exhausted and there is no card to play, the player discards.
    • The play continues until all cards are played, and players leave the game when they run out of cards.
    • One player may be left with cards in their hand, and these cards are added to their tricks.
Here, a large deck is also used; otherwise, it would not be possible for 7 people to play.
And the last variant, which also seemed interesting to me, is:
  3. Super Hearts
  4. The game is played according to the usual rules with the following changes:
    • The Queen of Spades is worth 7 points.
    • The winner is the player who first scores 100 or more points.

I hope you enjoy these additions to the main game!
And if they are accepted, perhaps this game will be even more interesting for you.

2. Aminiel,

Hello,

  1. Cancellation rule: why not, it looks interesting, and allows more people to play. So really for this one, why not.
  2. Dominos rule: you may get a lot of points just because of a bad luck on a single trick. Personally I don't find that kind of thing very interesting. Additionally, it quite breaks one of the oldest most classic strategy of trying to have a singleton or a void color. Let's see what other people say, but a priori I'm not fan.
  3. Super hearts. As far as I understand, it's basically playing in reverse, you must make as many points as possible. It would change the game so radically that I'm wondering if it's really worth it, and wouldn't become too similar to other existing games, such as Belote, Spades or Barbu, or would just become a kind of over-simplified version of these games. Trying to avoid winning tricks is what precisely makes Hearts unique. I don't know if you understand what I mean.

3. facelessghost,

Hello!
Thank you for your response!
I completely understand!
I would also be glad to hear the opinions of other participants.
Especially for the second and third options.
I decided to propose them, although I agree that option 2 drastically changes the game!
I'm very glad that you liked the first option, it would be great if it gets implemented!
