Scrabble tournament is back. Note the date: Jan 28th is the closing date. Then I’ll post the groups in time for people to make plans for Feb 1st where games should start.
Ideally it will be an elimination round of one against one. Gradually we will make the group sizes bigger so round two could be three players and finals will be a game of 4 players with first, second and third places awarded.
Please look out for an inbox from me on 29th regarding groups or I’ll pm you if I find you online.

sign up me. In regards to rules, what is the action on invalid word and thinking time limit?

The standard way we play. Unlimited and pass but I’m going to add if a game is over an hour and a half you should just count scores and see who is the highest. This was after one game last tournament took too long and a player was having to stay up till the early hours of her morning. Just thought of this.

@browneye on 29th you will know your group and it will be up to you and the other person to figure out what time on Feb 1st suits you but if by any chance that date doesn’t suit both of you then I’m flexible. The way my tournaments run is that I generally give a set time frame for each round. After that I will make anoter date for round two and notify everyone. So long as everyone checks inbox and comunicates it can work out.

I'm in. It would be nice to limit games to 1 vs 1. 3 or 4 person scrabble sucks.

I thought about this but it’s actually hard to keep track of so would really need someone to help me organise such a tournament. I do it this way because I’m finding it more challenging and fun as a group game but also because it’s easier to group people and eliminate this way. It also takes a lot longer in my view to go through all one to one games but someday, why not.

If there is someone you usually play with, you can ask them to help out in organizing.
It is as far as I can tell just watching the game and reporting the scores to you. You don't have to be present at every table.
Additionally, if you have multiple tables of 4 people, you can assign a table leader.
I don't think this is one of the popular games on PR, therefore, the amount of tables will be relatively small.

Emerald, I can help organize. I agree with Kyle, group games do kinda suck. One on one games do take a little longer, but I think it is the best way to play until we have a champion.

Also voting for 1 on 1 games all the way through. If people are willing to go a bit longer then they can eliminate players until they get to the top 2 players which play for first and second place, and the 3rd and fourth place players play to see who gets the third place prize.

Sorry guys the format isn’t changing. A lot of people are ok with this format and this is my style and how I usually run them. If you reread my previous message, you will find i”m not against the idea. To make things completely clear, unless you have run a tournament, you will find it takes time, energy and effort. It is not easy and I’m not complaining about the process of running it, but what I”m saying is that you are either in or out when people do put up tournaments. Suggestions are fine but when it comes to actually going beyond this and really wanting the format to change to suit what you’re comfortable with, it starts to feel like pressuring and takes out the fun. By all means if you really want this you can run your own tournament and show me how it is done but for now, take it or leave it.
I apologise in advance if this sound all harsh as I truely ment this as respectfully as possible.
So in summery, maybe one day but if I do, i need help. Do message me if this is something you would like to do in the future with me. Just for now, it is staying this way. Thank you in advance for understanding and hope you still manage to have fun whilst you are in the tournament.
